K2 8,611 meters Expedition
K2, also called Mount Godwin-Austen or Chhogori, is the second-tallest mountain in the world, just after Mount Everest. It reaches a staggering 8,611 meters (28,251 feet) high and sits on the border between Pakistan and China’s Xinjiang region. It belongs to the Karakoram Range, one of Earth’s toughest and most dangerous mountain areas. K2 is famous for being extremely difficult to climb, earning the nickname "Savage Mountain." It has unpredictable weather, steep icy slopes, and technical climbing sections, making it far more dangerous than Everest. Many climbers consider it the ultimate test of skill and endurance. The first successful climb happened on July 31, 1954, by an Italian team led by Ardito Desio. Since then, many have tried, but few succeed—K2 has a much lower success rate than other high peaks. Tragically, it has also taken the lives of many expert climbers over the years. Despite the risks, K2 remains a dream challenge for the world’s best mountaineers. The best time to attempt it is during summer (June to August), when weather conditions are slightly more stable. But even then, climbers must be fully prepared for sudden storms, avalanches, and extreme altitude dangers.
